What’s
special about it?
Located
at the Dead Sea area (400m) below sea level and extents to Kerak and Madaba
mountain (900m) above sea level. According to the variations in the elevation,
which is about 1300 m and permanent, this creates a magnificent biodiversity,
which represent typical habitat for the endemic species of plants and animal.
The
sand stone cliff represents the most typical habitat for one of the most
beautiful mountain goats is the Ibex, which their numbers declined in the nature
because of illegal hunting. In order to save this animal form extinction the
RSCN established a captive –breeding program for Ibex in the reserve.

Wild Life
Many
carnivores inhabit the various vegetation zones in Mujib. The Caracal, a medium
sized cat wit black and whit ear tufts, lives in rocky wadis. It is a powerful
and agile hunter with great jumping power, known to catch flying birds in its
paws.
Things
to do
The
most exciting attraction of Mujib is the adventure tour along the river, which
takes you through deep canyons and pools where you can swim and enjoy the
spectacular scenery and wildlife. This guided tour is available 4 times a week
and is limited to groups of 20 and less. There are other shorter hikes and you
can stay overnight in a simple wilderness campsite. Visits to the ibex breeding
enclosure can also be arranged.
Mujib
is place for nature lovers who are fit and enjoy walking. Facilities are simple
and it can get very hot in summer. River tours are popular and pre-booking is
essential.
